This is rather old now and it shows, but I'm proud of the hanging truck that became the symbol of the fight. The Government were taxing fuel for the haulage industry unfairly. 'The Fuel Duty Escalator' Ever increasing levels of tax meant British hauliers couldn't compete with foreign trucks. The knock-on effect being that all goods carried by hauliers would cost more for consumers. The powerful image of a truck being strangled by a fuel hose, together with a press campaign of full page ads in the Sunday and Financial Times, put enough pressure on the Government to overturn their unfair fuel tax. The strangled truck was a very visible and emotive graphic - it was everywhere. A great result for the FTA. (created whilst at Cicero)
